Madrid, España – Luego de casi un año fuera de las canchas, Rafael Nadal realizó su regreso al circuito ATP en el torneo de Brisbane, donde alcanzó los cuartos de final. Sin embargo, el tenista español realizó una publicación que sorprendió a todos.

Luego de sufrir una lesión en el psoas ilíaco de su pierna izquierda, Rafael Nadal volvió a competir oficialmente tras casi un año y lo hizo de gran manera, ganando dos partidos ante Dominic Thiem y Jason Kubler para instalarse en los cuartos de final del ATP 250 de Brisbane.

Sin embargo, el español quedó eliminado en dicha instancia tras caer ante Jordan Thompson en tres sets luego de desaprovechar un par de match points, pero dejó un gran sabor de boca por el nivel que mostró.

Igualmente, hoy el tenista ex número uno del mundo sorprendió a todos al publicar un mensaje en su cuenta de Twitter, al revelar que será baja del primer Grand Slam del año, el Australian Open, debido a que sufrió una lesión muscular en la zona de la cadera.

“Hola a todos, durante mi último partido en Brisbane tuve un pequeño problema en un músculo que como sabéis me tuvo preocupado. Una vez que llegué a Melbourne tuve la oportunidad de hacerme una resonancia magnética y tengo un micro desgarro en un músculo, no en la misma parte donde tuve la lesión y eso es una buena noticia”, inició el comunicado.

Luego, agregó: “Ahora mismo, no estoy preparado para competir al máximo nivel de exigencia en partidos de cinco sets. Vuelvo a España para ver a mi médico, recibir tratamiento y descansar. He trabajado muy duro durante el año para este regreso y, como siempre mencioné, mi objetivo es estar en mi mejor nivel en tres meses”.

Para finalizar, expresó: “Dentro de la triste noticia para mí por no poder jugar frente al increíble público de Melbourne, esta no es una mala noticia y todos seguimos siendo positivos con la evolución de la temporada. Tenía muchas ganas de jugar aquí en Australia y he tenido la oportunidad de jugar algunos partidos que me han hecho muy feliz y positivo. ¡Gracias a todos por el apoyo y hasta pronto!”, cerró.
