Gustavo Alfaro explicó porque Joel Campbell fue suplente con Costa Rica

Costa Rica – Alfaro había adelantado en conferencia de prensa que no miraba a Cambpell como antes, que había perdido la alegría para jugar, por lo que ya se anticipaba que sus planes para el amistoso ante La Selecta no serían usarlo como protagonista.

Y así fue, en el once inicial destacó la ausencia del delantero de los manudos, por lo que los medios de comunicación no dudaron en preguntarle al seleccionador nacional de los ticos la razón de su suplencia y la manera en el que comunicó su decisión.

¿Qué dijo Alfaro?

“Lo hablamos con él, tenemos dos meses para encontrar la mejor versión de Joel, porque yo le decía: podés jugar, pero si arrancás es muy difícil que en un partido de alta intensidad podás cumplir en 90 minutos”.

“Hoy con el nivel de Joel esta más para aportar saliendo del banquillo, pero lo necesito para que esté para jugar de titular. Entonces debemos encontrar su mejor nivel físico”.

¿Perdió la alegría?

Tal como se dijo anteriormente, Gustavo Alfaro fue claro con el delantero cuando este se unió a la convocatoria esta semana, indicándole de su bajo nivel, pero también manteniendo su confianza debido  la experiencia y liderazgo que tiene en el plantel.

“Lo primero que le dije cuando llegué fue: ‘perdiste la alegría, estás triste, veo que no estás disfrutando’ y me dio las razones que son válidas, pero le dije ‘sos inteligente, sos un chico que piensa y tienes que conectarte en tu club y en la Selección cuando vengas acá desde otro lugar porque tu voz es importante, porque jugaste mundiales y tenés jerarquía y más allá que no estés en plenitud, vamos a buscar la mejor versión de Joel”, le dijo.
